Light up for Christ

On December 1, 2009 the Knights of Columbus No. 2852 of New Hyde Park, N.Y. on Long Island , celebrated its 25th Anniversary of the "Light up for Christ" celebration. Our council was the birth place of the "Light up for Christ" program and was started by PGK Tom Piotrowski, in 1984.

Grand Knight Joseph Renta invited many people to this historic event, and it resulted in a packed building. We were honored to have Worthy State Deputy Arthur Harris, Worthy State Secretary Ken Latham, Worthy State Treasurer James Thompson and Worthy State Warden Salvatore Restivo attend the 25th Anniversary celebration. We also had many other officers from Long Island there to join in the celebration as well.

The "Light up for Christ" celebration started locally on Long Island at New Hyde Park council No .2852, and has evolved to spread across the nation and now around the world including Canada and Poland. It is an honor to be the place where it all started, and it's wonderful to know that this celebration will live on for many years to come.
